Education Update: Mossy Oak Supports AWLS

Last week, SCI Foundation announced that Mossy Oak will be sponsoring ten teachers to attend SCI Foundation’s American Wilderness Leadership School (AWLS) program in 2016.

Mossy Oak is pleased to partner with us for a third year to provide teachers with instruction in conservation and ecology.

AWLS is a professional development opportunity for educators. The eight day course teaches methods to incorporate conservation education lessons into existing curriculum content: math, science, language, social studies, physical education and art. Teachers learn techniques in using the outdoors as a classroom to give their students hands on learning experiences.

The goal of the AWLS program is to educate teachers and students about conservation and to prepare them to return home and share that message with students, classmates, colleagues and friends. The North American Model of Wildlife Conservation is the core of conservation understanding.

This program is in line with Mossy Oak’s own means of educating the public about wildlife management and the role of hunting in conservation. Recently, AWLS was featured on the Mossy Oak Gamekeepers show on the Pursuit Channel.
