SCI Foundation Day to Kick Off 2016 SCI Convention

On February 2, 2016, SCI Foundation’s 2nd Annual “Foundation Day” will kick off the 2016 SCI Convention in Las Vegas. The day features the 4th Annual SCI Foundation Sporting Clays Shoot and the 2nd Annual Beretta & SCI Foundation Conservation Leadership Award Gala. Both events benefit SCI Foundation and support its many programs.

Foundation Day begins with a “pull” and a “bang” at Clark County Shooting Complex. This year is SCI Foundation’s 4th Annual shoot partnered with the Boy Scouts of America. Krieghoff International is once again sponsoring the shoot by donating a Krieghoff 32″ K-80 Pro-Sporter under/over, 12 gauge shotgun. A big bore rifle shoot option with some of Krieghoff’s rifles is scheduled following the clay shoot and lunch. Hornady is again sponsoring the rifle ammunition for that event. The Sporting Clays Shoot is a great opportunity to teach boy scouts and others the safety and fun of shooting sports. The event benefits SCI Foundation’s youth education program.

The day’s events lead into the 2016 Beretta & SCI Foundation Conservation Leadership Award Gala. The ceremony includes several one-of-a-kind auction items to raise funds for our worldwide conservation efforts. This year, with the help of our many gracious sponsors, SCI Foundation hopes to break its fundraising goal. The Conservation Leadership Award Gala will be held in the Islander Ballroom of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.

The Beretta Conservation Leadership Award, the most prestigious award of its kind, honors individuals who have demonstrated a lifetime of commitment to wildlife conservation and education though volunteer service and philanthropy. In 2015, Larry and Brenda Potterfield, founders of MidwayUSA and lifelong conservationists, were the distinguished winners of the award. Winners are required to have contributed generously to Conservation, Education and Humanitarian Services efforts with both time and financial resources, as well as have extensive hunting experience. This award is open to anyone in the hunting-conservation world. (Click here to see this year’s finalists)

“Beretta, one of the oldest companies in the world, understands the importance for preservation and protection through a focus on wildlife conservation.  As such, we are thrilled and honored to be the lead sponsor of this exciting new award which pays tribute to a hunter-conservationist who has made a lasting impact through their time afield and via their community and philanthropic efforts.  Beretta proudly supports SCI Foundation because of its critical mission of wildlife conservation and education.” -Ryan Muety, Vice President Sales & Marketing, Beretta USA

Foundation Day is a great event for our youth and education programs, an important fundraiser for conservation, and a lot of fun for participants. As part of the 44th Annual SCI Hunters Convention, SCI Foundation will also be auctioning off conservation tags to benefit conservation. Look for more on the Conservation Auction Tags in the upcoming weeks.

Be sure to include the 2nd Annual Foundation Day in your plans when making your reservations for the 2016 SCI Convention!
