February 3, 2014 marked the first ever SCI Foundation day to kick off the SCI Annual Hunters Convention. SCI Foundation and the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Foundation hosted their third annual sporting clays shoot at the Clark County Shooting Complex in Las Vegas, NV. The event welcomed 107 shooters with proceeds from the shoot benefiting SCI Foundation programs, including its continuing partnership with BSA.
Participants enjoyed a morning of shooting followed by a catered lunch and awards ceremony where winning teams and top individual male and female shooters were honored with plaques. Winners were as follows:
Top 3 Performing Teams:
1st Place- Team Craig Martin #1 – Craig Martin, Frank Wood, Ray Brown, Neil Johnson, Mitch Unrein
2nd Place- Team Sibert – C.J. Sibert, Shane Louder, Jason Wrinkle, Justin Ragazzine, Jordan Kerchei
3rd Place- Georgia Chapter Team – Jeff Vick, Billy Thomas, Candace Thomas, Randy McGlauchen, Mike Young

1st Place- Bobby Fowler

As the lead sponsor for the shoot, Krieghoff International has donated a new Krieghoff K-80 Pro Sporter over/under, 12 gauge shotgun with 32-inch barrels which will be given away by sweepstakes drawing in the SCI Foundation booth at 2 pm on Saturday, February 8th.
The excitement of Foundation Day continued with the First Annual Beretta Gala. The winner of the prestigious award was announced and presented at the Gala at an exclusive, black-tie event attended by over 350 guests.
Janeane Peaterson provided attendees with humor, entertainment and a message of giving back and doing good in the name of hunter-conservationists. After the laughs had subsided, the first Inaugural Beretta and SCI Foundation Conservation Leadership Award was presented.
Larry & Brenda Potterfield, founders of Midway USA were honored with the prestigious award for demonstrating extensive international hunting experience and a lifetime of commitment to wildlife conservation and education though volunteer service and philanthropy. Over the years, the Potterfields have contributed generously to Conservation, Education and Humanitarian Services efforts in both time and financial resources.
