Linda Besse’s Artist of the Year Painting Unveiled for 2014 SCI Hunters’ Convention

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 6th , 2013

Washington, DC –Safari Club International’s (SCI) annual Hunters’ Convention is touted as the Ultimate Hunters’ Market; if you plan on attending, you will find hunting trips and tons of the latest gear. But did you know it hosts one of the largest displays of wildlife art in the country?  Along with once in a lifetime trips, convention goers will have the chance to purchase original one-of-a-kind works of art from over 50 different wildlife artists.

Each year Safari Club International Foundation (SCI Foundation) honors one of these distinguished artists by naming them the Conservation Artist of the Year; an outstanding artist who is dedicated to conservation.  This year SCI Foundation honors Linda Besse as her recently completed painting titled “Outgunned” will be auctioned to benefit conservation of big game in 2014. “We are excited to have our artists’ amazing artwork featured at the annual Hunters’ Convention,” said SCI Foundation President Joe Hosmer. “It brings recognition to the distinguished artists like Linda, and highlights SCI’s mission of conservation by using the auction proceeds to benefit the Foundation’s conservation work.”

Besse has been exhibiting and selling her artwork at the annual Hunters’ Convention for over 10 years. Her magnificent oil painting features a scene of woodland caribou from her experience through Labrador’s Boreal Forest.  “I am honored to be recognized by the Foundation for my conservation efforts and hope that [the convention] will give my efforts a broader reach,” said Besse.

“While the SCI Annual Hunters’ Convention might seem like an unlikely place to find world renowned art, it is actually a collector’s paradise.  So, whether you come for the trips or the art, the SCI Hunters’ Convention is the place to be!” concluded Hosmer.

A limited number of canvas prints will be produced in autumn 2013 for eligible Safari Club International Chapters.
